The Westermanns are on the road again. This time, Iris and Volker are exploring South America with their friends Nicole and Stefan Lindenberg. Samba, sun, sightseeing, and the warm hospitality of the locals make the trip through Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil an unforgettable experience for the group. Westermanns weite Welt documents the adventures of the world-traveling couple, who have been to locales including Southeast Asia and Canada, for Challenge on SAT.1 Gold and kabel eins.

“We want to inspire people and show that you can do a lot more than you think in a wheelchair,” Volker Westermann says. The two journalists shoot, edit, and produce their reports themselves. “Our travelogues are about lust for life — and that’s something everyone should have, whether they walk or use a wheelchair.” The monthly TV magazine Challenge is produced under the aegis of the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Behinderung und Medien e.V., an association that works to promote inclusion in the media, and features reports on the lives of people with disabilities. Its aim is to inspire others to live active lives to the full extent their abilities allow. The show is also designed to generate publicity and break down prejudices, thereby promoting the concept of inclusion in the community. <
